Highlighting and It's Purpose

Simply read through the information in numbered order on the screen shot image. In your own opened wordpad program, you can look to see where each item is located and try the steps for yourself. If you have trouble reading the screen shot image please find each numbered item below.

1.  Computers need to know what you are working on before an action can be carried out on that object. This is done by Highlighting objects, or where you are working by the position of the blinking cursor.

2. Highlight by taking the cursor to the object, (text in this case), then while holding down the mouse button drag the cursor over the object.

3.
The "Enter" key in conjunction with the keyboard arrows can be used as an alternative to using the mouse, for moving the cursor. Holding down the 'Shift' key is the same as holding down the left mouse key, if used in conjunction with the arrow keys, will highlight an object.
